Hotels near FBR Open in Scottsdale
JANUARY 26 - FEBRUARY 1, 2009
TPC of Scottsdale
Formerly known as the Phoenix Open, this PGA Tour stop was renamed the FBR Open in 2003. The tournament was first played in 1932, and today is the most popular tournament on the PGA Tour in terms of fan attendance. Some 500,000 spectators now attend the tournament each year over its four-day duration. Many of these fans spend at least some time soaking in the party-like atmosphere of the 16th hole.
Known as "The Greatest Show on Grass", The tournament is played at the Tournament Players Club (TPC) of Scottsdale--one of the most fan-friendly courses on the tour due to it's "stadium-golf" design which makes it possible for fans to perch on various mounds throughout the course and view action on multiple holes.
Scottsdale is also home to some of the finest hotels and resorts in the nation--many of which are in close proximity to the TPC of Scottsdale course. To avoid traffic and congestion, many local residents stay at area hotels both for convenience as well as to soak up the atmosphere during tournament play and in the evenings at the popular "Birds Nest" entertainment venue.
